Georgia county tax sale lists

Property lists for metro Atlanta county tax sales, compiled from public county records and delivered as Excel and CSV.

How Georgia tax sales work

  • Georgia county tax sales are redeemable tax deed sales. The buyer receives a tax deed, but the property owner (and anyone with an interest in or lien on the property) may still redeem it (O.C.G.A. § 48-4-40).
  • Redemption is allowed within 12 months of the sale, and after that until the right to redeem is cut off by the buyer's notice (O.C.G.A. § 48-4-40).
  • To redeem, the owner pays the amount the buyer paid at the sale, plus taxes and special assessments the buyer paid afterwards, plus a premium of 20% for the first year or part of a year and 10% for each later year or part of a year. Payment is made in U.S. currency to the buyer (O.C.G.A. § 48-4-42).
  • Starting 12 months after the sale, the buyer can bar the right of redemption by serving notice on the owner, any occupant and other interested parties, and by publishing it in the county's legal newspaper for four consecutive weeks (O.C.G.A. §§ 48-4-45, 48-4-46).
  • Sale time, place and payment terms are set by each county. See the official county notice before you bid.
