FAQ
What is in the file?
One row per property in the Harris County sale, in Excel and CSV. Each row has the full address and parcel ID, owner mailing address, assessed and market value and property type, plus the amount due and tax years the county lists.
Where does the data come from?
The property list is the county's published tax sale notice. Owner, value and property fields come from county assessor and GIS records, and each field is labeled with its source and year in the file.
What are the investor flags?
Four hints on each property. Absentee owner: the owner mailing address differs from the property address, or is a PO box. Out-of-state mailing: the owner mailing address is outside Texas. Possible estate: the owner name contains words such as estate, heirs or deceased. Amount-to-value ratio: the amount due divided by the appraised value. They are computed from public records and are hints for your research, not legal determinations.
Can I get a refund?
Refund terms are on our Terms page. Read the terms.
What if the county changes the list?
Counties sometimes add or remove properties before the auction. When that happens we review the updated list and update the file, and you can re-download it from your dashboard.

How Texas tax sales work
- Texas county tax foreclosure sales are redeemable tax deed sales. The purchaser receives a Sheriff's or Constable's Deed, but the prior owner retains a statutory right of redemption under Texas law (Tex. Tax Code § 34.21).
- Redemption period: For a residence homestead or land designated for agricultural use, the redemption period is 2 years (24 months) from the date the deed is filed for record. For all other properties (commercial, vacant land, non-homestead residential), the redemption period is 6 months (180 days) from the filing date (Tex. Tax Code § 34.21(a), (e)).
- Redemption premium: To redeem within the first year (or within the 180-day window for non-homestead property), the owner must pay the bid amount, costs, and an additional 25% premium. If a homestead or agricultural property is redeemed during the second year, the penalty is 50% (Tex. Tax Code § 34.21(a), (e)).
- Harris County auctions are conducted in person by the county Constable precincts on the first Tuesday of each month at the Bayou City Event Center in Houston.
- All properties are sold on an "as is, where is" basis without warranty of title. Always verify property records with the county appraisal district (HCAD) before you bid.
